Join us for a formal evening of Scottish country dancing. These Scottish folk dances are set to traditional melodies and are performed in various sets, circles, and as couples. No prior dancing experience necessary. The dances are easy to learn and so much fun!
The Gala will mirror the Celtic Ball in many ways but is for adults only! (18+) This dance is for Celtic ball alumni, Celtic ball parents, or any adults who would enjoy a fun and formal evening of dancing, food, and community. It'll be a perfect date night, group event, or come alone and make some friends!
Registration fills quickly! Space is limited so please register early. Tickets will go on a first come, first serve basis.
Doors open at 6:30, dancing from 7:00-10:00, followed by a social hour until 11:00. There is no morning practice like at the Celtic Ball. We'll learn the dances as we go!
Adults ages 18 and up. This dance is for Celtic ball alumni, Celtic ball parents, or any adults who would enjoy a fun and formal evening of dancing, food, and community.
$40 per person, due immediately to hold your spot.
This is a social dance, and so we'd like to encourage you to dance with as many people as you'd like! We'll give the opportunity to ask others to dance throughout the evening. If you're coming with a significant other and would prefer only to dance with them, that's fine too! Just know that during progressive dances, lots of partner changing happens so you can choose to participate in those, or not, as you like.
Gentlemen
Gentlemen have the privilege of a greater responsibility at this type of function, in that they get to make sure all the ladies have an opportunity to dance and are having a good time.
It is important that you see that all the ladies have the opportunity to dance. This is very much appreciated.
If you see ladies standing on the side waiting to be asked to dance, please ask one.
Ladies
If you choose not to accept a dance, decline politely.
If you want to sit out a dance or already have a partner, but you don’t mind if a gentleman asks you later, you should tell him.
Please be gracious, because it is not always easy to ask you to dance.
Semi-formal to formal attire please. If you are in doubt, err on the formal side.
A kilt, or other more historic or traditional attire is a welcomed sight as well!
Ladie's dresses need to be mid-calf or longer and skirts cannot drag on the floor. Dresses need to have at least one strap. You are moving a lot, and we want you to be comfortable.
Wear comfortable shoes that you're able to dance in. No shoes are fine too! Heels are not ideal for this kind of dancing, but you can always wear them and bring something else to change into!
